Two questions, two different answers
Your service history may make you eligible for a VA loan benefit. A mortgage still requires a separate review of income, credit, debts, occupancy, entitlement, and the property. A Certificate of Eligibility helps confirm the service side; it is not a mortgage approval.
You can start with a question
You do not have to gather every document before asking for guidance. Tell an expert what you know about your prior VA use and plans. Keep service records, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive details out of the website inquiry form.
Getting a Certificate of Eligibility
A lender may help request a COE, or you can request one through VA.gov. The information needed depends on your service history and circumstances. Your loan officer can explain the secure next step.
A useful first conversation
Ask: What should I prepare? Can you help me understand my COE? Does a previous VA loan affect this purchase? You can request that conversation without committing to an application.
